In this tutorial, you'll learn how to make text glow, like this:
Begin by creating a blank document in photoshop. Type out some text; the color doesn't matter. A thicker font may be a good idea, but I'll leave you up to any experimenting you may want to try.
You should have something like this so far:
In the layer menu, make sure you have the text layer selected. Then go under the 'layers' menu at the top, and duplicate the text layer.
Now, of the two text layers, select the bottommost one. Once you have it selected, it should look something like this:
Now go under the filter menu and select blur. A side menu will pop up when your mouse is over it. From there, select Gaussian Blur.
A menu like this will appear. Feel free to experiment, but for now I'd advise using my setting. Then click ok.
Your document will now look like this:
For a softer glow, you can change the opacity (transparency) of the top text layer.
Select the top text layer and find where you can change the opacity. Dial it down some until you like how it looks.
Your final product will look something like this:
