goodly designs for the average tasteful chapCutout Effect

This will be on creating this cool effect you see here called the cutout effect, where the subject breaks away from the background.
The first step is to find your image. Copy it (edit copy), and then paste it in to photoshop. You could go file new, image from clipboard.
Alright, so the second step is to select the subject. Zoom in for maximum comfort. There are a variety of tool ps has that may be handy to you as you try to do this. I'm using the selection brush tool, set to mask and not selection because that would slow down my computer. I'm coloring the area I want to be selected. This includes the back border around the subject, if it has one. When I change tools the colored in area will change to a selection.
When you're done selection, invert it (select, inverse) it'll look something like this:

Now that you have your subject selected you need to duplicate the layer. Layer, Duplicate layer. And now you have two subjects. So we will switch to the bottom layer and delete. We have now deleted the subject from the bottom layer.
Now switch to the top layer and select the inversion with select inverse. Press delete again.
Now we have a layer with the subject, and one without.
Create a third layer and put it at the very bottom.
Select the top layer with the subject and choose the move tool. Move the mouse my the corner so you can turn it and then twist the subject as you like.
Select the bottom empty layer and fill it with grey use the paint bucket tool. Make the top layers invisible so you can see what you're doing (click the eye icon next to their layer screenshot).
Now using random brushes try to make this bottom layer as ugly as you can. Try to use all greyscale colors though. Just fill in all the blank spaces and then make the other two layers visible.
We've got our bottom layer that shows through, our background, and then our subject. There you have it.
