The other day I was wandering around the internet looking for images of extinct animals and I discovered this wonderful old book that had been scanned and was filled with 5000 woodcut (or perhaps lithographic) engraved images from the 1800s. I found a couple more books of the same type, but there was no means to search them all at once for the images I was looking for, so I compiled this page. Simply by hitting control/apple f you can browse the list of illustrations from a good number of vintage books and find what you’re looking for. Don’t know if this will be handy for you, but I am finding it quite useful.
I’ve seen a lot of photoshop brush sets based on similar engraving-style images, so if any of you are in the mood for that sort of thing, you can really have a blast.

Hello chappers. School’s started and may just be calming to a manageable steadyness, so that means I might actually have time to do a thing or two around here.
As I get pickier, it seems like I have problems with more and more of my older creations, and a visitor kindly pointed out to me that my userlookups are having trouble. I will get around to fixing these problems immediately.
Thanks!
Improved Userlookups: Jubjub Cloud, Sketch Shoyru, Explorer Shoyru, Zombie Kacheek.
I tested the Snowickle and Grey layouts. They work fine, but the preview shows up wrong. I still have a few more to polish up under the neopets section, and then I’ll sift through the others.

This set is a bit different. I was helping clean out some old computer stuff and found an old manual with some nice diagrams in it. After scanning them I put together a brush set. I imagine these could be useful for any sci-fi designs. Have fun.

I have a thing for ink. It’s easy and radically awesome. Anyway, a while ago I made a brush set called Ink Blots, which were made with calligraphy ink within plastic bags. I let that fester in my closet for a while and rediscovered them a few hours ago. xD It was all fine; the ink had just spread out more and the shape of the blobs changed. So, why not, I made a new brush set called Ink Blotches with the new shapes.

Hello! It’s probably clear by now, but I’ve had some difficulties with the site. It got deleted inexplicably, March 25th or so, and I recreated it, but not everything’s in working order. More recent updates are lost. The stock photography section is down, but I will fix that as soon as I have the opportunity. Also, the domain figmintdesigns.com does not work for the moment, so change your links to figmint.zzl.org if you have a moment. I’m working on fixing this problem, but it seems to involve some waiting. Sorry about this.
Until the site’s back in order, there probably won’t be any content updates.
